A Case of Omental Cyst
Abstract
The majority of omental and mesenteric cysts are uncommon lesions which arise from lymphatic spaces associated with embroynic retroperitoneal lymph sacs. Most of them are seldom diagnosed prior to operation.
They can appear as chronic abdominal pain, a painless abdominal mass or acute abdomen. Most of omental cysts are freely movable.
Diagnostic aids include abdominal ultrasonograpy and computed tomography and the treatment of choice is surgical removal. Morbidity and mortality are very low.
The authors experienced a 2-year-old patient with omental cyst and report out the experience with a brief review of leterature.
